It is an interesting if a bit slow-moving film focusing on the by-gone Cold War era. Martin Sheen plays an East German dissident Alex Holbeck, who has defected to West. He is sent back to East Berlin on a secret CIA mission to recover a computer component called Enigma- which holds the key to unscrambling coded KGB information. Both KGB and East German secret police get wind of this mission and Holbeck has to use all his survival and espionage skills to complete his task. An intriguing love triangle between Holbeck, his East German girl-friend Karen (Brigitte Fossey) and his Russian adversary Dimitry (Sam Neil) adds another dimension to this Cold War espionage drama.
