Shankar-Ehsan-Loy

 

In Luck By Chance, the talented trio of Shankar- Ehsan-Loy have composed some striking melodies and Javed Akhtar has ably complemented them with his poetic lyrics. The album is definitely one of the best amongst 2009 releases so far.

 

Shankar Mahadevan, the singer, is the star attraction here with three wonderful renditions. In the Baawra, he leads a pack of feisty co-singers onto a festive folksy musical journey. Then switching gears, he shows off the sentimental side of his voice in the contemplative O Rahi Re, which is somewhat reminiscent of his earlier KANK hit- Mitwa. His best effort here is the moody semi-classical- Sapnon Se Bhare Naina, which is replete with some nice Aalaps and catchy electronic arrangements.

 

Sunidhi Chauhan chips in with a peppy pop track- Yeh Aaj Kya Ho Gaya; Shekhar Ravjiani (of Vishal- Shekhar fame) teams up with Loy in a soft rhythmic philosophical number- Yeh Zindagi and the Indian Idol- find Amit Paul joins Mahalaxmi in a catchy romantic duet- Pyar Ki Dastan.
