A.R.Rahman
An Aamir Khan-movie is an event in itself and when A.R. Rahman steps in there as the composer, it becomes even more significant! In the past this peerless actor-composer association has given us some memorable albums like Lagaan, Mangal Pandey and Rang De Basanti and Ghajini does enough to qualify as a worthy addition to that list.
The album begins with a dreamy romantic song Guzaarish, which is rendered nicely by Javed Ali and Sonu Nigam. With a catchy hook, this song proves to be an instant winner unlike the other songs from the album, which like most other Rahman- tunes take some time to grow on you. Benny Dayal and Shreya Ghoshal’s soft romantic duet- Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gayi is soothingly melodious and its instrumental version appears later in the album. Karthik’s Behka Main Behka is also an easy listening fare- it seems like a song indicating inebriated state of hero’s mind.
To satisfy the dancing requirements, Rahman creates two foot-tapping frothy chorus-backed numbers- Aye Bachchu (by Suzanne) and Lattoo (by Shreya Ghoshal sounding quite unlike her usual self!).
Overall, it is a neat musical package, which should appeal to most listeners.
