Pritam
In the past films like Garam Masala and Bhool Bhulaiya, composer Pritam has collaborated well with director Priyadarshan and the same team comes together again for Shahrukh Khan-produced comedy Billu Barber. The CD features as many as 15 songs but actually there are only 6 original tunes, which later keep revisiting in various remixed formats in different voices. Pritam uses his standard blend of fusion tunes, thumping beats, programmed synthesizer-based music, prominent backup vocals and Hinglish lyrics to create situational songs that are unlikely to leave a lasting impression.
If one discounts Ajay Jhingran’s UP-Bihar folk-styled fun-song Billu Bhayankar, rest of the album is dominated by robust fusion-dance-tracks like Sukhvinder Singh- Sunidhi Chouhan’s Marjaani Marjaani and Neeraj Shridhar- Tulsi Kumar’s Hai Love Mera Hit Hit. The latter is more notable for tacky lyrics like Hai Love Mera Hit Hit Soniye , To Phir Kaisi Khitpit Khitpit Soniye, Tu Baby Badi Fit Fit, Na Kar Aisi Khitpit Soniye! Later KK, Rana Muzumdar and Suraj zestfully render a rock-styled number Ae Aa O.
Khudaya Khair is a hummable romantic track, rendered once by Neeraj Shridhar and then by Soham, Monali and Akriti Kakkar. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s Jaoon Kahan brings in some semblance of serious, sentimental melody but is hampered by loud background beats.
