Salim Sulaiman

 

When it is a Yash Raj Film soundtrack and that too with a title like Band Baaja Baarat, then obviously it is time for Bhangra and marriage-songs! So following that dictum, the album features some robust rhythmic Bhangra-pop numbers like Ainvay Ainvay (Salim Merchant, Sunidhi Chauhan) and Bari Barsi (Labh Jhanjua, Harshdeep Kaur), which should come in handy for party-goers. The dance beat takes an engaging Sufi- turn in the obvious showpiece item-number Dum Dum, which is featured in two versions- once in Benny Dayal’s voice and later in Sunkhvinder Singh’s voice. In both versions Himani Kapoor remains constant as the female voice.

 

Shreya Ghoshal’s beautifully rendered romantic track Aadha Ishq is also notable for some imaginative lyrics (Aadha Ishq Aadha Hai Aadha Ho Jaayega/ Kadmonse Meelon Ka Vaada Ho Jaayegaa). A moody sentimental song Mitra (Salim Merchant- Amitabh Bhattacharya) and a breezy buddy-song Tarkeebein (Salim Merchant- Benny Dayal) provide the soft touch to the proceedings.

 

Overall, the composers Salim-Sulaiman have delivered an entertaining musical package!
