From the moment, Bheege Honth Tere started blaring from the loudspeakers, the name Kunal Ganjawalla became a household name. Despite his extremely busy schedule, Kunal finds some time to share his Valentine- experiences.
What I feel about Valentine Day
To tell you the truth, I feel all this hype about Valentine Day is humbug- it is just a money-making marketing gimmick. Till around ten years ago, there was nothing like a Valentine Day celebration in India but now everybody is doing it. We are just aping the West. To celebrate love we don’t need a reason. But nowadays, I too go with the ongoing trend and do something special on February 14-like going to a party.
My first Valentine Day
Looking back I remember my first Valentine Day quite distinctly. It was only the second time that I was performing in a college function. I sang a few songs and my God, the girls went crazy. I was literally showered with red roses and yellow roses. So much so that there was no space to stand on the stage- it was fully covered with flowers. Yeah, it was fun to bask in that glory!
My favourite Valentine songs
It is easier to remember other singers’ songs- especially the classics because they have been forever there in my memory. I love Lataji’s Bahon Mein Chale Aao, Kishore Kumar’s Kehna Hai, Rafi-saab’s Choudhanvi Ka Chaand Ho and Tere Mere Sapne Ab Ek Rang Hai. Even though it is a bit pensive, I also like Ashaji’s Mera Kuchh Saaman Tumhare Paas Pada Hai for the romantic nostalgia it evokes.
