A psychology professor (Kareena Kapoor) is aggressively wooed and won over by a fellow professor (Saif Ali Khan), teaching Islamic Studies. The Hindu-Muslim love story starts in Delhi and moves to New York as the lady (having married her man!) gets a job in a US university. As the couple just settles down in a Indian neighbourhood, bad things start to happen. A terror plot is afoot, which will throw many lives into disarray!
Despite the good music and excellent production values, Kurbaan fails to make an impact thanks to an almost predictable plot based on the now tiresome terrorism-theme. Saif and Kareena look good together in romantic scenes but are wishy-washy in emotionally charged moments. The characterization is sketchy, plot development is unconvincing. The main drawback is that the reasons behind the terrorist's mindset don't come across powerfully. The movie bears strong resemblance to New York in terms of look and feel and suffers from similar lacunae.
