Verdict
In his home production, Saif has spared no effort in presenting himself as the man bedding one beautiful girl and dreaming about another. His performance as a cool, comic and romantically confused guy and that of debutante Diana Penty’s as the demure dame with ‘Indian’ values are average. Deepika Padukone gets the meatier role showing off her great figure as well as her emotional acting prowess. But still all these lead characters seem too superficial to evoke any sympathy or empathy.
Cocktail just re-concocts the NRI rom-com formula with some none too imaginative twists. The story devices and the directorial treatment are all too predictable to get any satisfaction of seeing something new or different.
